Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) has notified the Board that it will be in a legal strike position effective December 21, 2019.  Under Ontario law, OECTA is required to give the Board five days notice before beginning legal strike action, which could result in either a partial or full withdrawal of services.

To date, no such notification has been received by the Board.

As OECTA represents all elementary, secondary and occasional teachers at St. Clair Catholic, in the event of a full withdrawal of services (full strike action) student supervision and safety would be compromised and the Board would have no choice but to close all schools.

Please visit the Board website regularly over the Christmas break and especially in the days leading up to the return to class on Monday, January 6, 2020.  The latest information will be posted to www.st-clair.net  

In the meantime, we remain hopeful for a negotiated settlement at the provincial bargaining table, which is fair to all parties.
