CUPE WORK TO RULE BEGINS SEPTEMBER 30, 2019
ALL SCHOOLS REMAIN OPEN
St. Clair Catholic has been notified that members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4168 will join their colleagues across the province in implementing labour sanctions against Ontario school boards, in a work-to-rule campaign that will result in the withdrawal of some services beginning on Monday, September 30, 2019.
At St. Clair Catholic, CUPE represents a number of education workers in our schools, including secretaries, custodians, educational assistants, early childhood educators and library and computer technicians.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is working with CUPE Local 4168 to determine exactly how work-to-rule will impact our schools and we will inform parents/guardians and all stakeholders as soon as these matters are made clear.
Throughout this uncertain period of work-to-rule, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board is committed to maintaining student safety. It is our priority to operate schools in a safe environment for all students and staff, according to a routine that is as close to normal as possible.
In the meantime, provincial bargaining between CUPE, the trustees’ associations and the Ontario government is scheduled to resume and continue through the weekend. We remain hopeful that a negotiated settlement can be reached.
Thank you for your patience and support as together we work through these labour disruptions.
