Before and After Child Care

Girls Dressed Up

We are pleased to offer licensed before and after school programs operated by third-party child care providers in many of our schools to support  SCCDSB families. The before and after school program offers children  more opportunities to learn and grow and delivers a seamless day with fewer transitions.

To date the SCCDSB has implemented before and after school programming in all schools that have demonstrated sufficient interest to do so. Selected schools may be also offering programs during school breaks or on professional development (PD) days.

Below you will find a link to a table listing each school, the programs available, and the operator’s contact information. Fee information can be acquired by contacting the child care agency.

Extended Day Program

Girl upside-down       The Extended Day Program is specifically developed for four and five year olds under the operational framework of the Education Act under S.259. The program is optional to families on a fee for service basis. The viability of the Extended Day Program is explored by conducting an annual survey of families' needs for each Full Day Kindergarten school. This program will be considered if twenty or more children demonstrate an interest in registering in the program on a consistent basis.

The surveys collected from the last school year identified sufficient interest specifically in JK/SK programming at the locations noted in the chart available through this link.

Parents interested in registering their child for the Extended Day Program are asked to contact the child care provider directly. This information can be found in the Child Care Sites and Programs section at the bottom of this webpage.
