Gamers unite!  This Wednesday kicks off Games Club!  Get your friends, grab your favourite game and head to 103 at 2:30 and play until 4:00.  Hope to see you there! 

Reminder to our Gr. 9 students…this Thursday, September 12th, we are inviting you and your parents to our Gr. 9 Parent Night.  The evening will begin in the Theatre at 7pm for a short presentation.  From there, you will be invited to take your parents to visit your classrooms and meet your teachers.  We will finish the evening with refreshments in the cafeteria.

Any students interested in being involved in Christmas in Muskoka are invited to attend a short meeting after school TODAY in the drama room.

Attention all artists! Art club will have their first official meeting on Tuesday, September 24 in room 920 after school. Everyone is welcome!! There will be a small $5 fee paid thru cash online. We will be working on decorations for the academic assembly and experimenting with Gelli Prints!!! Hope to see you there. 

Attention all Gaming fans. Looking to compete competitively with your friends or sit back and play some Retro games on a Nintendo 64? Esports will be starting up this Friday the 13th in the Communications Room, Room 808 right after school until 4:30. New members are always welcome. Students who are interested in the going on the Awareness Trip to the Dominican Republic at March Break should see Mr. Estoesta in Guidance about the first upcoming meeting.

The first dress down day is at the end of this month! Get your dress down tickets now on School Cash Online, no cash will be accepted!

There will be a student council meeting today after school in room 915. Please check your e-mail for more details and let Ms. Iacovella or Mrs. Lacina know if you are unable to attend.

The Ontario Universities’ Fair is from Friday, Sept. 27 to Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre.  Representatives from all 21 Ontario universities will be together in one place at Canada’s largest educational fair to answer your questions about programs, requirements and student life.  Go to ontariouniversitiesfair.ca for more information. 

The weight room will be open after school on Thursday.  Starting next week, we will be open regularly on Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, unless otherwise noted.  An orientation will be held next week for new members.  Listen to announcements for further info.  

Do you like the game show Jeopardy?  Do you like trivia?  Maybe the Reach for the Top team is for you.  We compete against other schools in Lambton and Kent counties.  The Junior team starts practising next Tuesday, September 17 and the Senior team starts practising next Thursday, September 19 in Room 605.  See Mr. Broadbent or Mr. Estoesta for more information.

The Study and Go Abroad Fair is Canada’s largest international university and student travel expo, happening on Sunday, October 6 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre.  Students can learn about undergraduate degrees, certificate and diploma programs around the world.  There is also a Student Travel Zone where students can learn about international organizations offering internships, volunteer programs, work abroad and language travel.  Go to www.studyandgoabroad.com for more information.

Tennis tryouts run this week until Thursday.  See you after school from 2:45 - 4:15 at the courts by Tecumseh Elementary school on McNaughton Ave.   Please get there ASAP dressed to play.  Need a racket? No problem, we have extras.  See Mr. Evans if you have further questions.

Are you a graduating student planning to go to college or university next year? Ontario's colleges and universities will be visiting UCC all through September, October and November. Post-secondary shopping season starts this Wednesday with a visit from Lakehead University and visits from Western, Ryerson and Brock beginning next week. For more information or to sign up for these presentations visit the Guidance office today. 

The Life skills class will be selling popcorn on Tuesdays and Thursdays outside of the cafeteria for $0.50 a bag.

Interested in greening our school? Come on out to the Greenhouse Club, starting Monday, Sept 9th, 2:30-3:30 in the greenhouse. Let's work together to make a change! 

With the start up of so many clubs, Enviro club will move its meeting days to Thursdays starting this Thursday.  Come on out to the greenhouse from 2:30-3:30 and help green our school community!

Looking to get some Volunteer hours?  The Terry Fox Run is looking for volunteers to help run this years event on Sunday Sept 15th.  Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9 am at the Pavilion near the Children's Treatment Centre Soccer field.  Volunteers will help Marshal the course and run water stations. You can expect to be done by approximately 11:30.  If interested please sign up on the page located on the Main gym doors by Sept 11th. Any questions see Mr. Culverwell in 103.
