You may have felt the buzz, seen the fights or heard the noise, yesterday, UCC hosted the LKSSA championships in the Lancer Dome. The wrestlers competed fiercely and they left it all out on the mats. A number of our wrestlers dominated their divisions and earned medals and a place at SWOSSA next week. Zach Parent and Daniel Crummer came up against each other for the gold in their division. It was a tight match the entire time but Zach came out with the gold and Daniel with the silver. Hannah Sorokosz and Vanessa Devolder also faced each other for the gold in their division. Once again, the match was tight, but Hannah was able to pin Vanessa in the second round, earning herself a gold medal, and Vanessa a silver. Kayla Smith was uncontested in achieving her Gold medal. Maddison Segeren fought hard and came back from an injury to earn a silver medal; and KD Jung lost in the finals, taking home silver. Both Maddi and KD's only loss were to the eventual tournaments MVP's. The girls UCC team, placed 3rd overall. The support from the school community cannot be understated in helping to motivate our wrestlers. If you see our wrestlers in the halls today, continue to show them that lancer spirit! Contact Mr. Parent anytime if you want info on next year's season. (15)
