It’s happening today in the cafe on both lunches. Come out to see UCC students “make the cut!”  Loonies, toonies, loose change are all greatly accepted to help support the Canadian Cancer society! 

Representatives from the Canadian Military will be visiting UCC today to provide information on the paid Military Co-op program and to answer your questions.This will be their only visit to UCC as all participants for next year’s co-op will be signed up today.  After today, it will be too late to enroll in Military co-op for next year.  The Military will meet with all students who have signed up in Rm. 601 today during Period 3. 

Want to take part in an initiative that stands up for ALL life from conception to natural death? Come on out this Thursday after school to room 501 to join the Pro-Life group! Join in on discussion, guest speakers, activities, music and more. Contact Mr. LeBel for more details.

The UCC Mock Trial team went down to Windsor for the OJEN mock trial tournament last night. With 1 win and 1 loss, the UCC team put up a strong performance against some tough competition. Congratulations go out to our members: Cole Murray, Joni Cogghe, Breanna Medeiros, Abbey Bechard, Quinn Teague-Colfer, Conner Quinton, Kelten Forgie and Matthew Bacic. Most of the team will be graduating this year and they will be sorely missed! 

Are you interested in being your own boss for the summer?  Do you have an idea for a business that you would like to get off the ground?  Students between the ages of 15 and 29 can apply to the 2019 Summer Company program where they can receive up to $3000 to help with start-up costs for their business.  Students will receive training in sales, marketing, bookkeeping, customer relationship management and networking. The deadline for applications is May 19 and more information can be found at the Chatham-Kent Small Business Centre Website:  www.cksmallbusiness.com  

Attention graduating students.  If you have been involved in school clubs, teams or service activities, and have maintained a good academic standing, you are invited to apply for the Lancer Award.  This award recognizes your contributions to UCC over the last 4 years.  Applications may be picked up from Ms. Milligan in room 601, or in the guidance office. 

Any hockey players who are looking for volunteer hours and would like to help with minor hockey tryouts are to see Mr. Clarke in room 109. There will also be a sign up sheet posted on the door. 

Volunteers Needed!  Earn your volunteer hours at TJ Stables by assisting children with special needs ride horses.  Acceptional Therapeutic horseback riding Spring Session starts Monday, April 29th from 5-8pm.  This program runs for 8 weeks every Monday evening.  If you would like to become a volunteer, please call TJ Stables. 

Reminder to ALL Grade 12 Graduating students - if you wish to secure a seat for yourself and your family at Graduation on June 27th you MUST pay your grad fees at School Cash Online, submit your blue withdrawal forms AND community hours to the Guidance Department by April 30.
