Yesterday, Thursday February 21, UCC wrestlers competed in the SWOSSA tournament at Lambton College. Once again, the wrestlers competed fiercely and  left it all out on the mats.

Of the seven wrestlers who entered the tournament, six earned medals and four qualified for OFSAA.

Zack Parent and Daniel Crummer made it to the end and wrestled eachother for gold. Daniel came out on top for the gold and Zack left with silver.

Vanessa Devolder earned a silver in the finals and successfully defended her title against a challenge from the third place finisher.

Maddison Segeren, KD Jung, and Kayla Smith each fought hard and came home with bronze medals.

Be sure to congratulate the wrestlers when you see them in the hallways today!

The Boys Hockey team won their semi final game against Northern yesterday 2-1.  The boys got off to a hot start and dominated puck possession through the game.  Chandler Glassford scored to put the Lancers up in the first, and Captain Zach Van Boxtel scored the winner in the second frame.   The boys will now play crosstown rival CK in the championship on Wednesday, 2:30 at Memorial Arena.  Be sure to come and support UCC, and remember - Lancer students get in free!  Go Lancers Go!

The Girls Ice Hockey team wrapped up their season yesterday with a playoff game against Sarnia Northern. Making her debut playing goalie, Rosie Warner stood on her head making 30+ saves in an amazing effort to try to keep the Lancers in the playoff hunt. It was a tremendous game as every Lancer left everything they had out on the ice. A goal by Tatum Hill kept the Lancers in it right to the end, but they came up just short. Mr. Wright, Mr. King and Ms. Balkwill are proud of all your efforts this year. Go Lancers!!!

The UCC Wellness Committee will be meeting on Monday February 25. The meeting will take place in room 104 during your lunch period. New members are always welcome to attend. See you there!
