In Japan, the Obon Festival welcomes spirits home with lanterns and dance.
In the Philippines, families visit cemeteries to light candles and share meals.
And in some African and Caribbean traditions, people celebrate the ancestors through song and prayer. Day of the Dead reminds us that across all faiths and backgrounds, remembrance brings us together.

November 11th is remembrance day UCC. Students who are able to do, so are encouraged to make a donation either on School Cash online and in person over the next few days. Students will once again be around during period 1 to collect any available donations. Thank you everyone who has already donated to this great cause.
Yearbook club is cancelled today. We will meet next Thursday.
The junior girls basketball team won their semi final match up last night against Sarnia’s Northern. Today’s shoutout goes to the team! This was a team effort with every single member contributing on the court. The teams discipline, grit, skill and tenacity were on full display, playing hard until the last whistle.
The girls play the LKSSAA final this Saturday right here at UCC!

The senior girls basketball season ended disappointingly last night in a 49-45 loss to northern. Daphne N., had 21 points, Alyssa Lee H., 10, Kinsey C., 7 and Alora D., 6. Special thanks to seniors Peyton N., Stella N., & Lily D., for their dedicated contributions to Lancer basketball.
Junior boys basketball tryouts begin tonight from 5:30 to 7:30. All grade 9 and 10 boys are invited. See Mr Dunlop in room 101 if you have any questions.
