“I Read Canadian Day is the perfect way to celebrate how amazing Canadian authors are! I Read Canadian Day is a national celebration of Canadian books for young adults, with the goal of elevating the genre and celebrating the diversity of Canadian books. Help spread the word that you read Canadian by reading 15 minutes today. Stop by the Lancer Commons to explore our Canadian book displays, check out a Canadian book or answer a Canadian trivia question! Teachers bring your class down to read in the Lancer Commons this week. I Read Canadian Day is Wednesday, Nov. 5th. Hope to see you in the Lancer Commons!

This week, we’re celebrating Día de los Muertos — the Day of the Dead — a vibrant Hispanic tradition that honours and remembers loved ones who have passed away.

It’s not a sad occasion, but a joyful celebration of life and memory. Families create colourful altars, called ofrendas, decorated with photos, candles, and marigolds to welcome the spirits of their loved ones back home.

A reminder to staff: After announcements, please complete the Day of the Dead classroom activity. All materials are in your mailbox, and the link to the slideshow is in your email. Don’t forget to return your envelope to your mailbox by the end of the day so United Alliance can use the materials to decorate our display cabinet for the week.

Stay tuned throughout the week to learn more and take part in our Día de los Muertos celebrations!

Good morning Lancers. We are starting November with a new special at Lancer Brew, our Chocolate Chai. It tastes like hot chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and spice. Congratulations to our draw winner from last week, one of our best customers, Mrs. Anna Thomas. We also have fresh banana bread and cookies, plus hot apple cider, caramel apple refreshers, a variety of teas, and of course iced and hot coffee. Order forms go on your classroom door after announcements.

Attention Lancers! Popcorn is back! Come to room 807 at lunch this Wednesday for large movie-style popcorn for only $2 a bag. Both lunches are available. This is a fundraiser for our LifeSkills students, so grab a bag and support an amazing cause. Don’t miss out!

The Ursuline novice boys cross country team competed in the OFSAA championships in Brampton on Saturday.

We had another extremely successful Lancers Scare Hunger Event. Due to the tremendously generous volunteer efforts of UCC's student body, we have a mountain of food to donate to our Local Food Bank! Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who made this much needed donation possible!

Please note, our UCC Cares meeting is canceled tonight. We will meet again Monday, Nov. 10th.

ATTENTION GRADS!! The Yearbook Club wants your baby pics and yearbook quotes! We are asking that they be submitted by November 15. Both can be sent through email to Mrs. Haines. Make sure your name is on both and please try to keep your quotes short and sweet!

Your 7s rugby team finished off the season with an excellent performance at the Halloween Havoc Tournament in London. With no junior division, the junior squad was called up to hold their own in the tournament. They had an incredible showing, and made it to the bronze medal game where with just 6 players left on the field, they lost a heartbreaker, bringing home fourth place out of 12 teams. The senior team had another excellent showing - they showed up to win on Friday. After 6 games, they took back the championship from Laurier high school, beating them 29-15 in the final game. A special shoutout goes out to our graduating players: Emmanuella C., Anna K., Brooklyn B., and Ashlyn B., congratulations on a great season girls!
