The UCC Girls Volleyball tournament team competed at the Chatham Christian Invitational on Friday. In their first tournament of the year, the girls won their pool with a 5-1 record. In the semi final the girls fought through a couple of injuries in a three set thriller coming up just short. Players of the tournament were Logyn M and Jersey G who also recorded her first career block in the semifinal. Congratulations girls! Practice Tuesday after school.

The senior boys had a great run this weekend making the finals in the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame tournament. After two 40 point wins in the first and second rounds, they battled a strong Lajeunesse team in the semi finals winning 65-59. Unfortunately, they lost by 30 to Holy Names in the finals despite a strong start from the Lancers. Isiah D was a tournament all-star while Taye H and Nathan V also played great throughout the weekend. The team takes on John McGregor tonight at 5:30 at McGregor. Come out and watch the game.

21 wrestlers battled in Windsor on Saturday with 48 individual wins. They will start decorating their tree with some gold and silver (and even some bronze). Undefeated in their day were 1st place finishers Isabella B, Paige S and Ayden B. 2nd place was pinned down by Emmanuella C, Julianna D and Magdalene U and once again Paige S who competed in the novice and veteran divisions. 3rd place finishes were locked up by Anthony P and Landyn B who each only lost to the eventual gold medalist. Honourable mention to Bo C who wrestled and won 5 of 7 matches to end up in the top 6 finishers. Way to go wrestlers, you make UCC Lancer loud and proud!

On Friday, 15 students represented UCC at the annual University of Windsor Secondary School Programming Competition. They competed against schools from the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent areas. Students worked in groups of three to solve as many programming problems as they could within three hours. With three correct solutions, the team of Anthony H, Devyn M, and Nathaniel P placed 7th overall. With four correct solutions, the team of Austin C, Trent L, and Ethan X placed 5th overall. Also with four correct solutions, but in a faster time, the team of Manny C, Josh K, and Carlos M placed 2nd overall. Congratulations to these and all of our coders who together achieved the best team result UCC has achieved in some time!

Our UCC Cares meeting is cancelled for today due to a funeral at the church. Thank you for your amazing efforts this semester, UCC Cares team members.
