UCC had 13 wrestlers compete at the Sarnia Invitational tournament at St. Patrick's on Saturday, Jan 12. Ten finished in the top 4 at this tournament that had representatives from as far away as Hamilton and Michigan. Zachary Parent was the only gold medalist. 4 Silver Medalists, Maddison Segeren, Kayla Smith, Vanessa Devolder & Daniel Crummer. 3 Bronze medalists were Darius Benoit-Pough, Hanna Srokosz and Victoria Armstrong. 4th place finishes were achieved by Khun-Dte Jung and Ryan Geniole. Some excellent wrestling by all the UCC wrestlers. This was the last school based tournament before the LKSSAA regionals which will be held here at UCC for the first time ever on Wed, Feb, 13 2019.
Rainbow Alliance will be meeting next Monday in room 104. Grades 11 and 12 will be meeting during the first lunch, and grade 9's and 10's will be meeting during second lunch.
Both boys basketball teams had successful weekends. The seniors went 4-1 and won the consolation championship in London. The entire team contributed throughout the weekend. The juniors won the championship in Cambridge beating a strong Burlington Assumption team in OT in the finals. Darion Basik-Hadden won tournament MVP after his fantastic championship game where recorded 29 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals in over 31 minutes of play. Nathan Hansen was also a tournament allstar. Spencer Denomy was steady and consistent on both ends of the floor all weekend and Andrew Huys had his best game of the year in the finals scoring 16 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Both teams play tomorrow night at home against Sarnia Northern in important games for first place. Come out and support the boys. Juniors at 5:00 and Seniors at 6:30.

The junior girls volleyball team competed in the CKSS tournament on Saturday. Riley Tuckwell and Emma Gignac had consistent serves while Jordan Nicholson and Ela Bos adapted well to new positions to lead us to the finals. The girls finished in second place but showed true Lancer spirit, great job ladies!
