Yesterday, the UCC wrestlers fought in Forest at the LKSSAA championships.  We brought 17 athletes, Everyone grappled hard, some came back with a few bumps and bruises. 13 of them qualified to compete at SWOSSA  and 11 of them medalled.  For the first time in history, the UCC boys team took 2nd place in overall points, beating out St. Pats, that have a team at least twice our size.  Your gold medalists are Riley & Wesley C, Ben P & Kayla S.  Silver medalists are Maddison S, Hanna S, Danny C, Clara R & Kayden D.  Bronze medals were pinned down by Jake L and Brayden S.  Way to go UCC wrestlers!  Wish them well as they will be tied up once again at SWOSSA in Windsor next Thursday.

Both boys basketball teams came away with semi final victories last night to advance then to Saturday’s championship games.  The juniors Lancers upset their cross town rivals, Chatham Kent Golden Hawks, with a 44-42 victory. After being down by 14 at half the team exploded on offense in the 2nd half led by the strong play of Andrew P, the sharp shooting of Jack S and the all around tenacity of Kurt C. The team plays their finals in Sarnia on Saturday afternoon.

The senior Lancers used their quick attack offense to beat the visiting Irish of St pats 71-50.  4 players scored in double digits and were led by Nakoma S’s 18 points.  The team plays their championship game at UCC Saturday night and we hope to see a lot of blue and white in the stands!
