The Wallaceburg Kinsmen Club has donated $500 towards a healthy foods initiative at Holy Family Catholic School.
With a focus on student wellbeing, the Holy Family School Wellness Council decided to offer several salad bar lunches this school year. Wellness council members received the food handlers' certification through Chatham-Kent Public Health. The students on the wellness council also prepared and served all of the food items and the salad bar lunch was enjoyed by all.
"This was a great opportunity for our students to try many new foods such as pickled beets and chickpeas," says Mark Bernard, Principal of Holy Family Catholic School. "We want to thank our friends at the Wallaceburg Kinsmen Club for their generous donation, which helped make this event possible."
More salad bar lunches are planned for the remainder of the school year.
