Welcome to Holy Rosary Catholic School Website
Holy Rosary is a small rural school within the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, situated in Wyoming, approximately 15 minutes east of Sarnia Ontario.
The Roman Catholic School Board in 1956, along with 20 Parish families from Holy Rosary Church, decided to build a two room school behind Holy Rosary Parish. The school opened in May 1957 with 69 students.
Enrolment grew beyond capacity of a room school and by 1963 two more classrooms and a gymnasium were added. The enrolment continued to grow faster than expected and in 1966 a further addition was planned. By 1967, the student enrolment was 160. The size of the school was 6 classrooms, one gymnasium, a staffroom, a library room, principal’s office and a kitchen. In 1988, a port-a-pack with three more classrooms and a custodial office was added.
Currently, we have 133 students and have added a Best Start Program and a chapel. Our staff, parents, and parish community work together to deliver the best educational programs possible, in a Catholic faith-filled learning environment.
Holy Rosary School is part of a thriving rural community. We have an active Catholic School Council that is pro-active regarding issues that impact our school community. Fund-raising activities assist the school with educational excursions, our annual Christmas and graduation dinners, specialized literacy, math and science resources, and technical equipment.
Our students participate in a variety of school and community activities throughout the year. These include: The Plympton-Wyoming Fair Parade, the Terry Fox Run, speeches, the Holy Rosary Christmas Concert, food drives, our Lenten Mission Project for Haiti, and our chess tournament. In addition, Holy Rosary students participate in a full array of interschool sports. The Holy Rosary School Naturalization ongoing Project has been a major undertaking for staff, students, and our entire community. Our school has obtained funding from environmental and business groups to purchase and re-introduce to the area rare plant species that were once common here. The students are learning the importance of preservation.
Promoting educational achievement and innovation by fostering stewardship, leadership and social justice, Holy Rosary Catholic School has a rich culture of celebrating the gifts and attributes of each individual student. As well, the school promotes a positive learning environment where challenging and real world learning provides for continuous growth.
The Holy Rosary staff strives to partner with Fr.Tony Delciancio, Deacon Chuck Stevens, our parish, and family members in answering the call to build an inclusive Catholic learning community. We acknowledge that by living our faith we are able to nurture the faith journey of the students in our care.
The Holy Rosary Catholic School community takes great pride in the high expectations we set. Students are held accountable to a Code of Conduct that models a positive and safe environment, and promotes a mutual respect for all within the school community using the seven Catholic virtues as our cornerstone.
It is my sincere pleasure to join the Holy Rosary Catholic School community, and to work along side my colleagues who are committed and dedicated to making each and every day a positive experience for all our students. We welcome your inquiries.
