Dear Parents/Guardians:

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board will conduct a school climate survey, from Monday, April 16th to Friday, May 25th.  School boards in Ontario are mandated by the Ministry of Education to conduct these surveys of students, staff and parents every two years.  They are an important tool in helping the Board to assess perceptions of school safety and in helping to build and sustain positive school environments.  They also assist the Board in making informed planning decisions about programs, which help promote safe and inclusive schools and good mental health.

A good response to the survey is vital to obtaining reliable data.  The surveys are anonymous and will take only a few minutes of your time.  There are three ways in which you can complete the survey between April 16th and May 25th.

Visit your school website – go to www.st-clair.net and click on “Schools” in the top menu bar; then “Visit our Schools” and select your school.  Finally, click on the School Climate Survey link on your school web page.

Or, you can go to the following link to complete the survey:

A third option is to pick up a paper copy at your school office, fill it out and hand the completed copy back in.

As an added incentive this year, the Board is offering $10 Tim Horton’s gift cards, which will be distributed to randomly selected survey participants.

I would encourage you to have your say and to assist us, as we work together to make our school environments the best they can be for the health and safety of all students and members of our staff.  The results will be published in a report, which will be posted to the Board’s public website next fall.

If you have any questions, please contact your school principal.

Sincerely,
Lisa Demers
Superintendent of Education
Our Principal
Liz Bujaki, Principal

Bienvenue!

Gregory A. Hogan is home to a diverse community of learners where faith and academic excellence in a French Immersion milieu is at the heart of all we do.   I have served GAH community in many different capacities; as district numeracy and literacy teacher, curriculum consultant, classroom teacher, vice-principal and now it is my honour and privilege to serve students, staff and the larger GAH community as principal.   I have always held a deep commitment and passion for French as a second language and know, from personal experience, that it opens many doors for our students both in their personal endeavours and in their academic and work placement pursuits.

"Ask not how smart a child is but rather HOW IS a child smart."

Our Catholic learning community is rooted in the belief that every child possesses unique talents and gifts.   As servant leaders, our role is to assist all our students in realizing their full potential by nurturing their gifts and providing enriching, challenging and engaging programs that promote critical thinking, innovation and creativity.  We believe that, in order to achieve this, a strong partnership needs to be in place between school, home and parish.  At Gregory A. Hogan we are extremely fortunate to share in this partnership and see the evidence of how it enriches our students’ social, spiritual and academic development.

Our Catholic faith and traditions are an integral part of what we stand for and who we are.  Our students see visible evidence of this through our celebrations of liturgies, masses and in our daily interactions with one another, where all partners in our educational community are treated with dignity and respect.

Our parent council committee members are active and dedicated partners, who work hard to support us in our initiatives.  Through fundraising and support with school events, our parent council has made significant contributions towards the purchase of technology and other resources that have greatly assisted our students in acquiring 21st century skills, which allows them to be competitive in a global society.

It is indeed a privilege to serve such a wonderful and caring school community.  It is my goal to continue to work in collaboration with all members of the Gregory A. Hogan Catholic School community, in the pursuit of academic excellence and well-being for all our students.

You Still Have Time to Register for Full Day Kindergarten Classes beginning September 2018. Classes are available in either English program or French Immersion. Contact your nearest Catholic School for more information; or visit our website at www.st-clair.net

Privacy Advisory

Our families and staff enjoy opportunities to share some of their activities with parents and the school community through teams, clubs and special events. Many of these are ‘memory making’ for families and as such, photographs and videos are often taken.

We ask that families exercise their discretion when taking photographs or videos at school events and consider the privacy of other students who may also be present in those pictures. We would appreciate if families not upload images of students other than their own to the Internet (e.g. YouTube or Facebook). Your cooperation with this request is appreciated.
