The Super Reader pilot began in January 2012. 130 students have participated in this reading intervention program. It is a “data-driven” program that responds to individual student needs. The students receive one hour of targeted instruction four times a week for a 16 week block.

I would most definitely recommend this program to other parents.  It’s fun, interactive, hands-on and easy for the kids to do.  It’s at their skill level.

The reading intervention program continues to move struggling readers forward – closing the achievement gap!

Intervention is a “double dose” of literacy instruction; it is not a replacement for good quality classroom literacy instruction. It includes: shared reading guided reading work knowledge independent reading  phonological skills

The students involved in this program have developed a deep passion for reading that they did not have before. They now have more confidence in their abilities. This confidence has improved their learning in all areas of the curriculum. Super reader students are actively participating in classroom discussions and they seem to be taking more risks. Super readers has helped develop independent learners.
