Dear Families – In an effort to keep you informed, we are sharing some information about the next upcoming weeks.

First of all, thank you to you and your children; as  result of your care and commitment to finding a cure for cancer, we raised about $5800 for Terry Fox.  Mme Owen and M Caron hosted a wrap up assembly yesterday and the students were very proud of the school’s efforts!  Each family has been somehow touched by the battle of cancer, either through a friend or a family member so this is a cause dear to many people’s hearts. To recognize the students’ efforts, the staff will be picking one block of time and sharing that date with the students. They will be enjoying and unplugged game hour. We will be asking students to bring in board games and non-electronic games, hands on “games” (e.g., Jenga) that they can enjoy in their classrooms.

Next, our LIVING ROSARY has been moved back a week to October 30th due to a scheduling conflict. We will send home a reminder for those who would like to attend. We hope your child will bring their rosary if they have one.

Finally, our SWAT (Student Well-being Awareness Team) will be hosting a Hallowe’en Dance on Hallowe’en Day. That day is an orange and black spirit day and whacky hair day combined!  The SWAT will be making promotional announcements to “keep it happy and cute” and have students limit the orange and black to clothing items.

Our social justice club will be promoting this event as well, making it a  school “WE scare hunger” event, asking for a minimum of one non-perishable food item as admission to the dance to support our local St. Vincent de Paul.

We know that many of you share your generous spirit with the students in our school and may consider sending ‘treats’ to school. The staff will be happy to share anything that is brought and send it with students to be enjoyed at home and so that parents can monitor this piece to ensure safety for all!

All of the mentioned events and happenings could not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our staff – in a variety of roles, so that we can improve well being and do our part to make a difference in the world!  We thank you again for journeying with us in these efforts!

Enjoy the frosty weekend.

With appreciation,

Mme Mezzatesta
