Welcome back Lancers!

The days of summer are quickly fading and the excitement of another school year is around the corner.  The 2016-2017 school year kicks off on Tuesday, September 6.

As principal of UCC, I am looking forward to another amazing year.  As with any new school year there are many changes that occur over the summer months.  Often it is a cleaned and fresh looking building, new paint or a small renovation.  Sometimes it is changing staff.  UCC will have its share of staff changes with recent retirements.  There is one significant change that will be noticed come September 6th.  After 3 years as part of the administration team, Mrs. Mary Ann McCrae has been appointed acting principal at St. Agnes Catholic Elementary School.  We are happy for Mrs. McCrae as she moves to a new role of additional responsibility.  She will be missed by so many here especially the students, families and staff that she has worked with.  Congratulations and best wishes Mrs. McCrae.  During her temporary absence, Mr. Rick Baggio and Mr. Ed Freeburn will return to full time administrative duties.

Soon the halls will be filled with activity.  Our school life will be busy with all the events that come with a dynamic high school.

During September we will hold opening school mass, finalize student course selections, kick off extra-curricular activities and begin the task of ongoing assessment and evaluation.

For parents new to UCC, you are encouraged to have conversations with your children to remain knowledgeable as to how their year is progressing.  I urge you to keep in contact with teachers and administration should concerns arise.  Watch our school calendar for important dates to join us throughout the year.

I promise an exciting and rewarding school year.  I want to assure you that the call to serve our students remains strong.  Our dedicated staff is committed to providing high standards of academic achievement within a faith based Catholic education.

Faith, Hope, and Charity is our school motto.  During your child’s years at UCC we aim to foster those virtues while developing life-long learners.  Thank you for choosing Catholic education and entrusting your child to our care.  We want your child’s experience and yours as parent and guardian to be a fulfilling experience.

Congratulations Mrs. McCrae!

August 24, 2016

Dear Members of the Ursuline College Community,

I want to make you aware that effective September 1, 2016 Vice Principal Mary Ann McCrae is being appointed to the position of Acting Principal of St. Agnes Catholic School in Chatham.

Mrs. McCrae came to UCC as Acting Vice Principal, to fill the void left when Mary Jane Courie was off work on medical leave.  In September 2014 her appointment became permanent.  Throughout her time here, Mrs. McCrae has become an experienced member of our administrative team.  Her skills and knowledge will be greatly missed by all of us here at Ursuline College.

The temporary vacancy left by Mrs. McCrae’s departure will not be filled.  Instead, Mr. Rick Baggio and Mr. Ed Freeburn will return to their roles as full-time vice principals, effective September 1, 2016.

I know that you all join with me in wishing Mrs. McCrae much continued success in her new role as Acting Principal of St. Agnes Catholic School!

Sincerely,

Ray Power
