Student Council welcomes you to Ursuline College!
|
"In coming to UCC, I realize that all the teachers and a lot of the people you meet are life-changing. They understand where you're coming from. I feel that they do really set you up for post-secondary and the world out there."

Greetings, My name is Thomas Dula and I serve as the Chaplain to Ursuline College Chatham. I hope I have the pleasure to meet with you one day, especially if you are choosing UCC as your High School. If there is one thing I could share about myself, it would be that I love storytelling. My favourite stories come from the life of Christ, because they provide us with an image of how radically awesome God’s love is. If you want to see how exciting our faith life is at UCC, please view the short story “in video format” below.

Transitioning to UCC
To support elementary students in the transition to secondary school, UCC is proud to offer a LINK program to support students from the first day of school. This will provide grade 9 students with senior student mentors who they will meet during the Link Orientation day before school begins, and be supported by throughout the year through various large group activities, as well as through individual support as needed.
Lancer Link
Nervous about coming to UCC? Don't worry, we've got you covered! We are Lancer Link Crew and we're here to help you through your whole first year of high school. We'll hang out at grade 9 Orientation where you'll meet a bunch of new people, learn where your locker and classrooms are and help you understand what it takes to be successful at our school. We can't wait for you to become a Lancer!
Every 10 grade 9 students are connected to 2 senior mentor students whose sole goal is to make them feel welcome and comfortable throughout the entire grade 9 year. This includes social gatherings like our grade 9 only dance, playoff tailgating and thematic lunches and classroom visits where students explore lessons surrounding suspending judgement, effective goal setting and and looking at situations from various perspectives.
"One of the advantages of being a big school is that we have a Lancer Link program. There'll be an orientation day where you come in and you get paired up with two high school kids I already know what they're doing. They've already been through everything that you've been through and they guide you throughout the whole year."

Grade 8 Open House
Grade 8 students are welcomed to tour our school. Our open house night is usually held in late January or early February; check the UCC newsletters for updates.
Muskoka Woods
Muskoka Woods experience is a leadership training program that allows grade 10-12 students at UCC to teach grade 7 feeder school students important leadership qualities through character building experiences in an outdoor setting.

Academic Excellence
As the largest school in the county, UCC is proud to offer the widest range of face to face programming for our secondary students. This means we can support our students in every destination, including: Apprenticeship, College, University & the Workplace. Visit these pages to learn more about our school's course offerings, or the Co-Op / OYAP / SHSM / Dual Credits programs.
We are extremely proud to hold one of the highest graduation rates in the province. We share even greater pride in our ability to provide a rich, experiential and faith based secondary environment where students are equipped with the 21st century skills that are required for the complex world that awaits them.
Research has shown that students are more engaged, more motivated to learn and more successful in school when they can connect what they are learning in the classroom to their community and to the world. Our schools are committed to experiential learning by providing community connected, outside the classroom learning. We offer job shadowing, Take Our Kids to Work Day, cooperative education programs, dual credit programs with our local colleges, Specialist High Skills Major programs (SHSM) and Ontario Youth Apprenticeship programs as well as individual classroom trips and experiences. By reflecting on these experiences and applying them to both the curriculum and to themselves, students can begin to research and plan their unique career pathway.

"When I was in grade 8 the thing that I was most nervous about when coming to UCC was like the size of the school. But as I went on I think that's one of the best things about our school because it gives you more opportunities in every part of your high school life. There's more selection here in classes I think than any other school and what extracurriculars you want to do since there's so many different options."
