Yesterday, 16 wrestlers competed at SWOSSAA in Windsor. Our Lancers fought hard but the losses were even harder. 11 placed in the top 4, the top 2 finishers in each category move on to OFSAA on March 2,3 and 4th. Landyn B., and Emmanuella C., pinned down gold medals for return trips to OFSAA. Anthony P., and 1st year wrestlers Chris D., and Cameron V., will experience the Ontario championships for the first time as they secured a hold on silver medals. Paige S., Anna K., Ayden B., and Dean R., all had incredible matches earning much deserved bronze medals but finishing their high school wrestling season for this year. Dean R., suffered a shoulder injury in the last move of his gold medal match, he then automatically had to forfeit the silver medal to the bronze medalist since they hadn't met in the competition. Honourable mentions to 4th place finishers Matt L., Logan S., and Lydia M. Of the 25 teams that were represented at SWOSSAA, the UCC boys team took 2nd place in overall points. Emmanuella C didn't give up a single point all day and pinned her opponents quickly. She was voted the best female LKSSAA wrestler at the tournament. Way to go to everyone that competed in this sometimes brutal, relentless but incredibly rewarding sport! Lancer Loud! Lancer Proud!!

The girls hockey team will take on CK on Tuesday for the LKSSAA championship. Puck drop is at 2 pm, admission is $5. Let's go fill the hawks nest with Blue and White and bring the noise to cheer on the girls to victory!!! Goooo Lancers!
