Attention all grade 12 students interested in finding out more about college programs in Ontario. On Tuesday, October 10th, you will have the opportunity to travel to the College Information Fair at Ridgetown College, where representatives from 26 colleges across Ontario will be available to answer your questions. The bus will be leaving UCC at 9:15 and will be returning at 11:30. You will need to return a signed permission slip in order to be registered for this trip. Please see Ms. Fisher in guidance for your permission slip and more information. Hurry, spots are limited!

Brock University, Queen's University and Lambton College will be visiting UCC next week for presentations. Please visit the PATHWAY bulletin board in the Guidance lobby to sign up for these presentations. Contact Ms. Bromley with any questions.

Do you sing or play music? Is your talent ready for an audience? Practice up for the next Eclectic Java Coffee House, to be held November 3. Auditions will be in a few weeks. See Mr. Brown or the bulletin boards for more info.

On October 4th UCC will be hosting our first youth listening event. This will be an opportunity for students to share what wellbeing community supports they would like to see here in Chatham and the surrounding areas. If wellbeing is important to you or you have an idea you would like to share, sign up via the QR code posted on our news boards. Participants will receive a free pizza lunch! Sign up soon to ensure your spot and make sure your voice is heard. Your voice matters!

Sense of belonging is the feeling of security and support. This comes from a sense of acceptance, inclusion and identity. Being known and learning things about our families, friends, peers and classmates that you don’t talk to often can both help yourself and others build that sense of belonging.

UCC is looking for students who want to make a difference. If wellness is important to you or you have some ideas about how to make UCC a better place, sign up for the UCC Wellness Team via the QR code on our news boards. Wellness Team meetings will begin on October 2nd. Hope to see you there!

The Rainbow alliance will begin lunch time drop-ins in October! To sign up and for more information, please scan the QR code on posters in the school. If you have questions, please contact any of the staff members listed on our google form. Rainbow alliance is a safe, inclusive space for all. New members are always welcome!

Are you looking for a safe space to have lunch or hang out with friends? Would you like to make some new connections or talk about what is happening in your life? Drop in with Amanda McQuarrie to room 901 on Wednesday (today) during both lunches. To kick off this year's drop in we are warming up with a cup of soup. Bring a reusable cup and spoon to enjoy a free hot lunch. Only until supplies last. Hope to see you there!

This Wednesday the Guidance department will be hosting a ‘Pathways Beyond High School’ presentation to ALL Grade 12 students during period 3 in the theatre beginning at 11:45. Any Grade 12’s in elearning classes or on spare during period 3 are encouraged to attend by joining us in the theatre right after lunch.

The Loran Scholarship supports promising young Canadians who show strength of character and a commitment to service in their communities, challenging them to fully realize their leadership potential. This year the Loran Scholar Foundation will offer up to 160 financial awards to Canadian students. To see if you are eligible, please contact your guidance counsellor or check the grade 12 guidance group in EDSBY. Act fast! the deadline to apply is October 11!

Hey Lancers! Next Tuesday, October 3rd, during 4th period, we are having our Annual Terry Fox Walk. Make sure to bring a toonie for Terry to your fourth period teacher! There will be permission forms going out to everyone as this year, we are finally back out of covid, and walking in the community! Make sure to bring a toonie and your permission form back before Tuesday October 3rd!

The Senior Girls Basketball team won their 2nd straight road game last night, defeating LCVI 37-27. Megan B poured in 13 points, Sierra L had 8 and Addy H-L 7.

Our Jr Girls Basketball team moved to 2-0 in League play last night with a win over LCCVI in Petrolia. The team faced a tough zone defence most of the game and had to work hard to find opportunities to score. Led by Daphne N with 9 and Zaveri B with 7 the girls turned up the defence to change the energy in the game finally taking control in the third quarter with Alora D's second three pointer of the night to win it 35-11. Congrats to the Jr girls on a great start to the season!
