As our school prepares for our Remembrance Day Memorial Service, we hope to gather names of any deceased Canadian military. If you know of a family member, or friend that has served, please share the name with Mr. Dula in guidance. (7)

There are still a large amount of Student Data Verification Forms outstanding. Please return them to the main office by tomorrow, if you have lost yours please come to the main office and ask for a new one. (6)

Hey Lancers, we need your help.  Now that We Scare Hunger is complete, were asking for your help with donations for the book and sneakers drive. UCC is partnering up with I CAN WE CAN to help out kids and teens in Accur, Guyana. We are asking for your help to collect books and gently used sneakers for ages 12-18 years of age. So check your closet or bookshelf this weekend and clear out all those sneakers you never wear or books you like someone else to read. Drop any donations off in blue bin in the main office. I CAN, WE CAN make a difference. (6)

Boys and Girls Curling Team Tryouts will begin Monday after school.  There is a signup sheet on the gym door for those interested.  See Mr Denomy for details. (5)

The Prime Minister’s Youth Council is a group of young Canadians who provide advice to the Prime Minister and the Government of Canada on issues of importance to them and to all Canadians.  As Minister of Youth, the Prime Minister wants to hear directly from young people. Youth Council members meet both online and in person several times a year to discuss issues that matter to their peers, their community, and their country. They interact with each other outside of meetings to discuss ideas and upcoming activities, and to talk with their peers about issues that matter most to them. Students must be aged 16 years old or older to apply.  Go to www.canada.ca/youth for the online application.  The deadline for applications is November 30.  See Mr. Estoesta in Guidance for more information. Girls Hockey tryouts will be held next Thursday, November 8th at 3 o'clock at Thames Campus Arena and Wednesday, November 14th at 2:30 at Memorial Arena.  Please arrange for rides to and from the arenas.  If you need to store your equipment at the school for any of those days or have any other questions, please contact Mr. King or Mr. Wright in the Phys-Ed  office. If you are unable to make one of these dates, you MUST let Mr. Wright or Mr. King know.  See you next week! (5)

The Ursuline Lancers snapped their three-game losing streak Friday. The Lancers shut out the Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks in the first half en route to a 17-6 win. K.D. Jung scored for the Lancers in the first quarter on a three-yard run. Cameron Creechan kicked a 26-yard field goal in the second quarter for a 10-0 halftime lead. The Lancers struck again in the fourth when Evan Torres tossed a seven-yard touchdown pass to Deryck Harvieux. Torres was 8-of-12 for 82 yards. Mat Hawryluk made three catches for 32 yards. Jung ran nine times for 65 yards. Quinton Emerick led the Lancers’ defence with eight tackles, Tanner Hoorelbeck and Dylan Butler each made six, and Torres had an interception. The Lancers travel to Sarnia Northern to take on the first place Vikings this Friday afternoon.  Good luck boys. (05)

Chatham Kent has recently witnessed an increase in community members that do not have their basic needs met, many people that live in our community do not have food, warm socks or even shelter. Pedagape is taking part in an initiative to hand out comfort bags to those in need. These bags have warm socks, shampoo, soap and other basics. Come to room 919 to help make prayer cards for the Comfort Bags that will be distributed to our homeless. A reminder of the Boys Hockey tryout this Wednesday at 2:30 at Memorial Arena. You need to sign up on the sheets outside the gym doors today in order to step on the ice. Wednesday morning you can bring your equipment to the gym where we can lock them up in the equipment room which will be unlocked at 2:00 Wednesday in order to get to the arena. Tryout goes from 2:30 until 4:00. You must bring a light and dark jersey to this skate. Please find Mr. Mallette, McCabe or Clarke for information. (5)

All across Canada this week is Treaty Awareness Week. This Thursday UCC will take part in honouring treaty week by wearing purple shirts/tops with uniform bottoms. Followed by a theatre presentation from Historian and Author David Plain during periods 3 and 4. What is a treaty you ask. Simply defined, an agreement between and among different parties. We are all treaty people. (5)

This year’s COR retreat weekend is fast approaching. A sleep over weekend of great food, fun, music and faith experiences. Cost is only $50. Gr 12 Students earn their 10 religion volunteer hours. See the Deacon, Mr deVet or Mr Dula. Ask the many students who gone in years past. (6)
