Ursuline College students were among 200 from St. Clair Catholic and other area school boards, who participated in a Manufacturing Day event organized by Chatham-Kent Economic Development.
The day was an opportunity to showcase careers that are available locally to young people.
About a dozen local companies participated in the event, during which students learned about the tools, technology and training needed for a successful career in the trades. Employers also shared information about other important roles, such as human resources, administration and management.
"We want to help students understand that manufacturers across all of Chatham-Kent are looking for people with a variety of skill sets," says Rosemarie Montgomery, Economic Development Officer for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. "By exposing them to this kind of information now, they can begin to develop career pathways in their education."
