The theme for Catholic Education Week 2019, which will be celebrated from May 5 to 10, is Living as Joyful Disciples. The St. Clair Catholic District School Board will join with other Catholic school boards across the province to celebrate the significant contribution that Catholic education has made in our communities, the province and to Canada.
Click on the video links on this page to hear what our students have to say about the gift of Catholic education. You can also hear the students all this week on CFCO and CKSY in Chatham, CHOK and The Fox in Sarnia, and 99.1FM in Wallaceburg!
The theme and sub-themes are directed to our students, especially their growth in holiness and their formation as disciples of Christ.
There are five sub-themes:
- Day 1 – Rooted in Prayer
- Day 2 – Living in Community
- Day 3 – Doing Justice & Creating Hope
- Day 4 – Journeying Together in Faith
- Day 5 – Sharing the Good News
“Each year, Catholic Education Week offers an opportunity to reflect on the importance of Catholic education in our schools and in each of the communities we serve,” says Deb Crawford, Director of Education. “Through the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, our students become faith-filled responsible citizens and life-long learners, who give back to our communities in countless ways.”
Special activities are planned at each of our schools to mark Catholic Education Week. Some activities celebrate our faith; some focus on learning excellence through literacy and numeracy events and celebrations of the arts; and others demonstrate our commitment to service through acts of charity. Click here for a list of just a few of the events that have been planned in some of our schools.
Please contact the school principal to arrange a visit.
