The Literacy test is 16 days away. Wow, it is coming up quickly! If you are in grade 10, be sure to chat with your English teacher and take some time on your own to complete the OSSLT Prep Booklet. If you are a student writing for the first time or rewriting, take the time to do some extra prep on your own. Use the Literacy Google Classroom resources and come pick up a prep booklet in room 108. UCC United Alliance has taken the initiative to dedicate this week to International Women's Day! Throughout this week you will hear inspiring announcements, see posters around the school and be educated on all the great women in our lives!
The school is called to take action with a grade level challenge! Join us in the cafeteria during your lunch to participate in the Heart Poster Campaign! You will be asked to write down a thought about a woman in your life that inspires you, a woman in the world that has made a difference or a positive thought to empower women in our school. The notes you make will be placed on a large poster to represent the support the female community has. This challenge will also host the opportunity for you to donate any money or any feminine products. These profits will go to the local Chatham-Kent Women's Center. Start thinking of ideas and looking for supplies, because this challenge starts Wednesday and will only happen until Friday. Let's support the women of our community and engage in International Women's Week at UCC, Lancers.

Ultimate Practices begin this week on Tues & Wed. Come to 808 with indoor shoes ready to stretch and run and catch. If you still want to sign up talk to Deacon Raymond during your lunch this week. Players, watch Google Classroom each morning for practice locations.
Boys that have signed up to play rugby will meet in the cafeteria Tuesday and Thursday this week. Wear running shoes, shorts and T-shirts and be ready to go at 2:30. Please make sure you have completed the Google form and joined the Google classroom. See Mr. Parent in room 306 if you have questions. It's not too late to sign up, use the QR codes around the school.
Are you interested in joining UCC’s track and field team? Come on out Tuesday March 28th to room 602 after school for a mandatory meeting. The track season will be discussed as well as expectations and sign up for the team. All grades and experiences are welcome.
Sign up for the Ultimate Frisbee Team using the QR code on the gym doors or by seeing Deacon Raymond in the Comm Tech Room 808 this week. Practices will be once a week so that you can still play another sport. Ultimate is non contact and only Co-Ed.
On the weekend members of the UCC track team competed in Toronto. Caleb R won the junior boys 60m and Long jump, Tanika L won the senior girls 300 meter and was 2nd in the 60 meter hurdles and 3rd in the 60 meter sprint. Jeremy V won the senior boys shot-put. Addison H-L was 3rd in the junior girls 60m. N’Tayea L novice girls was 4th in the 60m and 300m. Congratulations to all athletes.
The Lancer Spring Volleyball Team went an impressive 11 and 1 yesterday to finish in first place in Walkerton. The Lancers sit atop the Southern Ontario League with an overall record of 22 and 2 after two tournaments. Players of the tournament were Jack S, Rees E & Josh B.
