Attention Lancers! UCC will be participating in Student Vote Canada on Friday, April 25th. Here's a quick profile of one of the five candidates you can vote for on election day.
Keith Pickard is running for the Liberal Party. Keith grew up in Chatham and now lives in Leamington with his family. He started his own businesses in Chatham that created jobs for people in our area, and he understands what local families and workers need to succeed. The most important thing for Keith is to stand up to Donald Trump and keep Canada strong. If you like what you heard, you can vote for Keith Pickard and the Liberal Party during period 1 on Friday, April 25th. Tune in tomorrow to hear about another candidate.
Attention rainbow alliance members -- reminder to submit your designs to Google classroom no later than Thursday.

Congratulations to our Senior Badminton team whose members competed at LKSSAA yesterday. All players are to be congratulated for the effort and hard play. Special mention go to all those players moving on to SWOSSA next week. Lily D. finished 5th and Jocalin H. placed 3rd in Girls Singles, Adam V. captured second in Boys Doubles and a shout out to the boys doubles champs, Dacion and Tiago. Good luck to our Juniors as they compete tomorrow at the Healthplex.
The girls' soccer team had a great first game of the season! The final score was 3-0 with the help of our goalie Rowan G. and our strong defense wall. We started the game strong with Brooke R.'s scoring off her corner kick in the first 5 minutes of the game. Soon followed by a beautiful cross by Grace G., which found the foot of Gisele D.. Then halfway during the second half, Gisele drew a foul in the box and scored on her PK. Great start ladies!
The senior boys soccer team kicked off their season with a 3-0 win over Great Lakes. Xavier M. got the Lancers on the board with a goal in the first half. Xavier would double their lead with a cool, calm finish from the penalty spot early in the second half. Jacob M would finish off the wolf pack with his first senior goal after a great give and go with Cristian S. and Nate V. The defense stood strong all game and Jakob A. would get the shut out. The Lancers square off against McGregor tomorrow at McGregor. Gooo Lancers!
Did you know that more than 30 percent of the waste sent to landfills in Ontario is compostable? Compostable waste in landfills results in unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions. UCC Composts is starting a "green bin" program here at the school. There will be compost buckets placed around the school starting next week. Signs will be posted to remind you about what materials are compostable. No plastics, no bones, no napkins, no cans. Let's do our part and show that UCC cares for the environment. We’re thrilled to announce that Josh H. and Sauryn M. have won the People’s Choice Award at the High School Art Show at the Thames Art Gallery! Their stunning artwork captured the hearts of visitors and stood out for its creativity, skill, and impact. This recognition is a true testament to their talent and artistic vision. Way to go, Josh and Sauryn — your work has inspired and impressed the entire community!
