I am not sure how many of you are aware of a community event that is held annually that helps develop your skills at being an effective communicator.
Each year the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642 hosts a public speaking competition in February.
The contest is open to Gr 7-9 (3-5 minute speech - $500 1st place provincial award) and Gr 10-12 (5-7 minute speech - $1000 1st place provincial award)
The challenge has been declining interest and low numbers participating.
As a result, I am inviting you to consider participating in the Legion’s public speaking contest.
If you are interested please email Mr. Power and include your name and grade so he can contact you with a contest entry form and a copy of the rules and regulations.
He needs to hear back from interested students no later than Thursday, February 7.
It would be wonderful to have UCC students participation in this event.

Attention all grade 9, 10, and 11 students interested in writing the University of Waterloo Math Contest. The contest will take place on February 26th here at UCC. If you want to write the contest please see Mr. Rivard in room 304 or the math office (room 302) to sign up. A $2 deposit is required. Please sign up by Thursday February 7th. (7th)

Congratulations to the Ursuline Lancers boys and girls curling teams on both qualifying out the B Side for Gore Provincials in Pembroke from February 14-17. Our weekend of curling was dedicated to the memory of a great man and our Coach Mr. Gutteridge.
The boys curling team is back on the ice tonight playing Chatham Christian. Please meet in guidance to 200 to arrange your rides.
There is a meeting tomorrow morning for girls ice hockey in room 507 at 8am to discuss upcoming games. Attendance is mandatory!
Pedagape will be starting up next Monday, February 11th, in Room 919. Semester two is full of events and opportunities where you can gain volunteer hours. We always welcome new members, and we hope to see you on Monday!
