Good morning LANCERS!
This week, we’re celebrating Canada’s multicultural heritage while busting some common myths about immigration and refugees

Let’s start with Myth #1: Newcomers don’t need help. The truth is, many immigrants face real challenges when they arrive — including isolation, employment barriers, and finding housing. Even though newcomers are often healthy when they arrive — partly because they must pass a medical exam — their health can decline due to stress and limited access to services.

One inspiring example of a newcomer who overcame barriers is Michaëlle Jean. Born in Haiti, she came to Canada as a refugee. Through hard work and dedication, she became a journalist, a community leader, and eventually Canada’s 27th Governor General — the first Black person and third woman to ever hold that office. Her story is a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience immigrants bring to our country.

Stay tuned all week as we highlight more stories and facts that celebrate diversity and challenge stereotypes!

Prom is this Friday! All students must arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. to ensure a smooth check-in and timely start to the evening.

Before entering the hall, please check the seating plan posted at the entrance.

All students must sit at their assigned tables to avoid confusion or seating conflicts.

Your cooperation is essential in helping the evening run smoothly—thank you, and we look forward to a fantastic night!

Tomorrow is our last day celebrating multiculturalism week at UCC and that means students and staff are encouraged to wear world jerseys! This can include. Soccer jerseys representing any country, Team Canada jerseys from any sport, jerseys that reflect a cultural or national identity

Please note: uniform bottoms are still required for all students.

We look forward to seeing our halls filled with international pride and team spirit!

Did you know the fashion industry is the second largest polluter, second only to the oil industry? Let's buy less, choose well, and make our clothes last! Grade 9 Science students will be around shortly after announcements to collect uniform donations and summer items for our clothing swap. Everyone is welcome to get a new-to-you item on Friday, June 13. Donate to get early access tickets for Thursday, June 12 during both lunches in the Nucleus. We'll be back tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday!

Yearbook club will meet today afterschool.

With so much Lancer athletic success we extended athletic banquet tickets until tonight. It is time to celebrate you, Athletes! All athletes and parents are welcome to attend on June 10. Dinner is served at 5:00 o'clock in the cafeteria, followed by the awards presentation in the theatre starting at 6 o'clock.
