Wow… what a game. The Senior Boys soccer team took on St Anne’s last night for the SWOSSA crown. The Lancers found themselves down a goal at half, with Jake A., making several huge saves to keep the Lancers in it. UCC put in a monumental effort in the second half and started to play their game. Quinn B., played a great give and go with Rees E., and Rees did what he has done all season… score. Rees left 3 defenders in the dust and hammered an amazing low blast to tie the game up at 1 and have St Anne’s players reeling. The Lancers continued to battle and the game was really tight. St Anne’s scored with 6 mins left in the game. The Lancers were given a free kick with seconds left on the clock, and with everyone pushed forward, Keegan K., put a cross on a platter and Jack G., rose high above the crowd to send the ball back across the net to Aiden V., to control and slot home and tie the game with the last kick of the game and send it to extra time. The first half of extra time solved nothing and St Anne’s found a goal with only 2 mins left in extra time and won 3-2. Mr Wright is so proud of all the player’s efforts this season it was definitely a season he will ever forget. A special thanks to all the grade 12/ graduating players who may be moving on next year; Aiden A., Quinn B., Jack C., Christian Das N., Rees E., Jack G., Nick H., Owen K., Keegan K., Ethan Q., Lucas R., Lucas T., and Aiden “VH” . Gooooo Lancers!!!!
The boys rugby competed at the LKSSAA championships last night in Sarnia against St. Pats. This was the first championship game that UCC has been a part of in over 10 years. The boys tried hard to try but it was too hard because the fighting Irish were a bunch of try-hards and tried harder and made thier try's. We lost 22-0 but our boys played a spectacular game which was a great way to finish our season. Way to go to all the boys. FYI The fun practice has been rescheduled to Monday.
