RBC Award Recipient

Pictured left to right: Candice Cooper, Executive Assistant Lambten Kent Market (RBC), Adam Gronowski, Lacey Drew, RBC Branch Manager, and Rob Cicchelli, Principal St. Patrick’s Catholic High School.

As the cost of tuition continues to rise, scholarships are helping students to offset some of those costs. Twenty deserving high school students across Ontario were awarded scholarships from RBC for their essays on how black Canadians have helped to define Canada's diverse heritage. I'm proud to announce that one of those winners was Adam Gronowski from St Pats High School.

This scholarship program is part of RBC's kid’s pledge which began in 2013 and is committed to $100 million over five years to improve the well-being of 1 million kids and youth.  Visit to learn more.

The history of African Canadians is an integral part of the broader Canadian story.  Adam did a wonderful job of honouring the rich national heritage of two black Canadians Elijah McCoy & Viola Desmond.  His essay was blown up and mounted with foam backing on a 4ft X 2ft board and is proudly displayed in the school's front lobby.
