Dear Supporters of Catholic Education,
Each year, Catholic Education Week is a unique opportunity to celebrate the great work of Catholic schools in the dynamic and creative integration of Catholic teachings and Gospel values across the curriculum.
This year’s theme “Gathered in One Spirit … We are Called” celebrates the incredible truth that each of us has been called by God – not just as a collective, but called by name. Isaiah says it beautifully… “I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1) Amid life’s joys and sorrows, its challenges and doubts, these words can be our source of strength and the solid rock of our faith. It says we are not alone, that God is with us.
Catholic Education Week also serves to highlight the partnership that remains the foundation of Catholic education. We particularly want to underline the relationship of Catholic schools within the broader Catholic community and especially with the parishes, which remain the centre of the worshipping community.
Throughout Catholic Education Week, we ask you to reflect on the significance of Catholic education’s presence and contribution in our Church and in our society. We invite all members of the Catholic community – our parents and our parish partners – to participate in the celebrations and activities that will mark Catholic Education Week 2008 at our schools.
Sincerely, |
