Living Faith Award of Distinction
2008
The St. Clair Catholic
District School Board’s Living Faith Award of Distinction is to
be awarded annually to dedicated individuals, who in exemplary fashion,
have demonstrated the fundamental and essential qualities of Catholic
education that are the four tenets of the Board’s Mission Statement:
• Witnessing
our faith
• Empowering individuals through celebrating their achievements
• Creating innovative learning environments
• Fostering stewardship and justice
Criteria
Evidence of a significant
and positive contribution to Catholic education, as stated above, is the
sole criterion for the Living Faith Award of Distinction.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the
Living Faith Award of Distinction is extended to all St. Clair Catholic
District School Board employees, volunteers, parents, trustees, students,
parish members and all individuals who have contributed to Catholic education
at a system or school level.
Procedures
- Nominations
for the 2008 Living Faith Award of Distinction close Friday, May 9, 2008.
- Nominations will
be made by individuals on an official nomination form
to be faxed to (519) 627-4871
. In addition to
the nominator, up to three other individuals may add their names
in support of the nomination. A maximum of three letters of recommendation
(500 words or less) may also be submitted. The letters of recommendation
may be written by the nominator and, the supporters of
the nomination, or others.
- Each elementary school community may submit one nomination, each secondary school community may submit two nominations, and the Catholic Education Centre (which includes the two maintenance locations) may submit one nomination.
- Schools may only nominate individuals from within their own school communities. The CEC/Maintenance locations may only nominate individuals attached to CEC/Maintenance.
- Nominations must be for individuals, not groups. Only in rare circumstances (such as a mission or service organization) will nominations for groups be accepted.
- All nominations from schools must be made in consultation with the school community, through the school principal or school council. Nominations from CEC/Maintenance must be made in consultation with a committee established to accept nominations.
- The nominations
will be processed by the Selection Committee and the Committee’s
recommendations will be final. Please remember, the Selection Committee
is not a research body, and the decisions of its members will be based
solely on the information provided in the nomination form.

- The Selection Committee will meet annually to confirm the nominees. All nominations which meet eligibility requirements and follow these established procedures will be confirmed.
- The Living Faith
Awards of Distinction will be presented annually at the Employee Recognition
Celebration.
