Last Wednesday, 4 UCC players made the trek to Barrie to participate in this years OFSAA badminton finals. Mixed doubles teams of Gabby S., and Aidan A., along with Samantha L., and Jack C., faced the best in the province Thursday. The teams battled throughout the day with 1-2 records which put both teams in the C draw for the next day. Friday was another test of wills as teams went through the day facing elimination. Samantha and Jack rattled off 2 consecutive wins as Gabby and Aidan played tough battling back in the 3rd set of most matches winning 2 and losing 1. At the end of day, against all odds in a tournament that started with 40 teams, these teammates somehow ended up facing each other. With the winner getting a chance to play for medals, both teams played hard but Jack and Samantha overcame their teammates, ending a great tournament for Gabby and Aidan

On Saturday morning Samantha and Jack made quick work of their opponents from Toronto to capture a Bronze medal. Congratulations to all of the players from your UCC coaches on an amazing weekend and season. Thanks for all of your effort. Special thanks to all of the family support this week and the awesome coaching of Reid Teeuwen.

The senior boys soccer team played in the Holy Names tournament in Windsor Friday. They beat Windsor St. Joe's 1-0 on a goal Nick 'Hollywood' H., set up by Rees E. They lost their next game 1-0 on a last gasp winner against Villanova, the reigning WECSSAA champs. In their final game, despite being all over L'Essor, they would fall 2-0. It was a great showing for the boys against some of the best teams in the area. The Lancers take on Sarnia Northern Wednesday at home with top spot in the LKSSAA standings on the line. Gooo Lancers!
